For anyone that really got bored with their eighth grade American history class, you are about to get a new lesson filled with exciting adventure that is filled with clues and keys about a vast treasure that has been collected from the days of the pharaohs on through the Crusades and Middle Ages. It might be under our own feet, and there is a family that knows where to start looking, and our story begins with one inquisitive boy, Benjamin Franklin Gates (Hunter Gomez), hunting around in his grandfather’s attic in on a stormy night in 1974.
His grandfather, John Adams Gates (Christopher Plummer), tells Ben the tale of the the treasure and the Masons and the Knights Templar, and how it all falls together and how his family is involved. The have only one clue, “The secret lies with Charlotte”. The story is interrupted when Ben’s father, Patrick Gates (Jon Voight) berates his father for filling Ben’s head with stories, and that the treasure is only a myth, and that it is time for everyone to let it go. Ben is not going to heed that advice, and that leads to a team of new treasure hunters in our time hunting for Charlotte in the Arctic. Release in November of 2011 for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Wii this remake of a classic Activision and Nintendo 64 game is going to be a hit with anyone who played this game in the past. For those that have played the game on the N64 be prepared to learn it all over again as the game controls have changed. For those that are used to games such as Call of Duty and Metalgear you are going to know these controls inside and out. Based on the book from Tom Clancy, Patriot Games, this film is a solid hit in the action and intrigue department. We have all the right players to give audiences a ride that they are likely never to forget. You have international players with terrorists from the IRA and members of the CIA who Jack Ryan used to work for. It is evident early on what you are going to see happen in the film, it might even be telegraphed for you but you are not going to care. You are going to want to see how this one ends and will be on the edge of your seat no matter how many time you might watch it. Director Phillip Noyce and screenplay writers have done a good job translating the story to the screen even though several elements were changed from that of the book. The Cold War has ended but not for everyone, especially Alec Trevelyan and General Arkady Grigorovich Ourumov. Both want to see the former Soviet Union pay for not keeping the status quo and they are going to use the old Cold War relique GoldenEye to make that a reality. GoldenEye is a satellite system that can trigger the effects of a nuclear blast anywhere that they would want. It doesn’t have the radiation effect of a bomb just the electromagnetic effect. When an electromagnetic pulse goes off it disrupts the electrical signals of everything that is around it. A fantastic fun ride for the whole family of an ancient Greek classic with a modern day twist. Percy Jackson & The Olympians : The Lightning Thief is based on the books written by Rick Riordan. It is the story of a young boy who finds out that he is the some of one of the three most powerful gods of Olympus. He is an awkward teen who would rather hide at the bottom of the pool then deal with what is going on around him. At least that is the way that he was till he is accused of stealing the weapon of Zeus (Sean Bean) and Hades (Steve Coogan) snatches his mother to the underworld. It is now up to Percy Jackson (Logan Lerman), his junior protector Grover Underwood (Brandon T. Jackson) and his newest friend, the daughter of Athena (Melina Kanakaredes), Annabeth Chase (Alexandra Daddario) to find the weapon and rescue his mother.
