Inception (2010)

Inception 2010This film was written and directed by Christopher Nolan and stars the talents of Leonardo DiCaprio, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Ellen Page. It is a movie about planting the idea into the mind of another person and making them think that it was their own idea, which of course they do. It is a long and winding path to get to the last 20 minutes of the film that has the actual action, everything else is a sad and sappy attempt at validating the film. Brainstorm and Dreamscape did a much better job at that and they were B-Films and this film was supposed to have a blockbuster budget.

I know that this film got high marks but I think the reviewers were just being kind. While it is true that the film was not boring it was not riveting. It was a nice middle of the road film, just the kind that Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio seem to always do. I know both actors have done action but in this film you had an hour and 20 minutes of sap and 28 minutes of action, no wonder the Academy liked some of the people in this film. It was a thinking persons film that likes to have a bit of action now and then. You wont get bored watching this film as long as you are wide awake, if you are tired at all do not watch this film, it will just put you to sleep.

This film was disjointed just like a dream and I now understand why they promoted the hell out of it with iPhones and other gadget apps and such. If they had not promoted it like they did to get a cult following I think this film would have flopped at the box office. Watch it, don’t watch it, buy it, don’t buy it, what ever way you go you will still be the same. You will be scratching your hear and asking yourself what it was that you just did or didn’t watch.
