Soviet dissidents from a war long gone hate the world and its governments and are going to do anything that they can to make sure that they can no longer run and ruin the lives of their citizens, even if it means killing them in the process. Anarchy 99 has a plan and feel that it is time for all the world to go to sleep so that they can wake up in a state of total anarchy and freedom. At least that is what they believe. The United States intelligence knows about the group and that they are bent on destruction but they just don’t know how. With three agents down they need to find a way to stop Anarchy 99 in its tracks and at the same time save the world.

Xander Cage (Vin Diesel) is an extreme sportsman and athlete as well as a sometimes political activist that has no problem stealing a car and blowing it up just to prove a point to a corrupt Senator from California. He doesn’t try to hide it, he even tapes it so that he can stream it to the internet. He loves to show off and isn’t really all that concerned with money. If he was he would have already sold out to the game companies that keep approaching him to do games about his many stunts and activities. He is in it for the fun and the glory of it all and it is all that his webmistress J.J. (Eve Jihan Jeffers) can do to make sure he stays out of trouble.

Agent Augustus Eugene Gibbons (Samuel L. Jackson) is tired of the agency loosing agents and has come up with a plan to change that. He knows a perfect way to take care of Viktor (Jan Pavel Filipensky) and his crew from Anarchy 99. He plans to take the worst that American society has to offer and see which one of them has what it takes to get the job done. Each is expendable and has enough dirt on them that Gibbons will be able to get them to do just about anything for him. Xander is on his short list and an agency raid on his studio apartment gets him tranked and shipped to who knows where to start the tests to see if he has what it takes and needed to be able to bring the rogue shadow group down. Another thing that is so great about the people Gibbons is looking at is that they are just about as dirty as Viktor and will easily fit in to get the job done.

Xander wakes up in a diner where things just don’t look right. At first as the drug is wearing off he sees a waitress in need but as his head clears he sees things that tell him that this is more setup then hold up and just goes with it and busts some heads for fun. Then he is out again and then finds himself on a plain about to be shoved out the back of it with 2 other candidates. He just smiles as he is sucked out the back of the plane and into the cocoa fields of Columbia. At first he thinks it is a setup till he once again sees things just not right and a bit too real for his liking. It takes all he can do to keep him and the one of the other candidates alive through the night.

This is a fast moving film and you even get a love interest thrown into the mix between Xander and Yelena (Asia Argento) who wants to get out of the group and someplace safe. With the two of them working together they give Anarchy 99 a run for their money all the way till the end. As with many of Vin Diesel’s Films you have lots of explosions, action and high speed chases. You even get scenes of his character trying to out run an avalanche that he starts. This film has just about everything for the action film junkie and more. While it might not win tons of awards it will win tons of applause as you watch the action that unfolds in front of you.

I give this film a Musing review of ★★★★☆☆
