This ketchup is the very best that I can ever remember tasting. It is clean, light and yet bold as well. It has a smooth flavor that will make you never want to have another type of ketchup ever. This is what the condiment tomato sauce should taste like and is better than any store bought I can remember. Once you try this flavorful to die for ketchup you won’t want another kind ever.
Ingredients for TDF Honey Ketchup
6 oz. tomato paste
1/4 cup honey
1/2 cup rice vinegar*
1/4 cup water
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. finely minced sweet onion
1/4 tsp. garlic powder
1/8 tsp. nutmeg
1/8 tsp. powdered clove
1/8 tsp. powdered ginger
1/2 tsp. basil (can be minced up with the onion)
*I use rice vinegar because white vinegar is made from corn.
To make this sauce you will combine all of the ingredients into a shallow sauce bowl and place over a medium heat. Heat for about 2 to 3 minutes as whisk together the ingredients to a smooth consistency. After you have achieved the desired texture and consistency reduce heat to a simmer and cook for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. After the sauce has finished cooking, remove from heat and let cool in the pan for about 30 minutes. Once cook place in a jar that can be sealed and place in the refrigerator to keep cool.
This ketchup can be stored for a very long time, as to the exact time, I don’t know. We used it up too fast to find out how long it takes to spoil. The stuff taste great, even without it being on anything. So if anyone finds out how long it takes to spoil, please let us know so that we can update the recipe.
This ketchup recipe will be the only one that you will ever want to use after you have tried it. We have had it on home made fries, homemade onion rings and on burgers. We can not remember ever having this condiment taste as good as the one that was made from the recipe that we have here for you.
