Ace Combat 4: Shattered Skies is fun game for the PS2. This game will make you dizzy, if you play for a long time. This game is like a Japanese version of a Tom Clancy novel. This game is set in the fictional world of Strangereal, and spans the years 2004-2005, and this person talks about his story of when he was kid. So, this game is mostly about his story.
This is the first Ace Combat game that I played in the series. There are anime cutscenes in this and they look really good on a computer screen. I wish it ran like a anime show instead stopping it. The graphics do look similar to Ridge Racer V, but I think this game used the same design from Ridge Racer V. They almost look the same and they both look more detailed. It is Namco game, so it probably is. Read more...(338 words, 31 images, estimated 1:21 mins reading time)
It is a troubling time in the world as a Soviet leader dies from heart failure and a new one steps in to take his place. Not much is known about this new leader Alexander Nemerov (Ciaran Hinds) except that he is seen to be a Soviet hardliner and a person that wants the world to know that Chechnya is an internal affair and not to trouble Russia about it. This is the face he wants the world to see, he wants them to know that he is in charge and not just a puppet of the military or former KGB operatives. He is the one in command and will do what is necessary to make sure that Russia stays secure. Dr. Jack Ryan, a former Marine doesn’t see him that way and he has to make the rest of the world see what he sees to stave off disaster. I know that sounds a bit simplistic but that is the whole plot of the film and drives the various sub-plots. It is the one thing that keeps the film racing down the hill as you try to keep up and wonder, what’s next. Read more...(892 words, 93 images, estimated 3:34 mins reading time)
This early 90s picture was made during the waning days of the Cold War, but it is set in a time when we were still on high alert. In 1984, the Soviet Union was still very strong, and nuclear subs on both sides of the world had to power to level cities. This is based on one of the very successful books in the Tom Clancy Jack Ryan series. In this story, Jack (Alec Baldwin) is working for the CIA as a consultant as his wife (Gates McFadden) works through her residency in London. At this time, a new wold has been put to sea out of Polijarny Inlet, and she is the Red October. Her captain is Marko Ramius (Sean Connery), and he has an agenda. it is up to Jack Ryan to find out what an old sea dog like Ramius could be up to with that much nuclear power in his hands, and why the best of the Soviet Fleet has been sent out of Leningrad and other major ports in the nation to hunt down this amazing sub with a magnetohydrodynamic drive that makes it run virtually silent.
