Sniglet Of The DayArachnoleptic fit n. The frantic dance performed just after you’ve accidentally walked through a spider web.

The term “Arachnoleptic fit” is used to describe an Arachnidiot. Juts about anyone can suffer from an Arachnoleptic fit. Those living in sterile, urban areas are less likely to have them, unless they visit the forests or countryside occasionally. Those actually living in rural areas know pretty much where spiders might spin webs, and tend to avoid this. The spiders themselves are varying in size, and can spin webs in place in some of the most unlikely places, so even the most keen arachnologist might become a victim of a sneaky spider’s web. Thus the person become entertainment to those other people and animals around them when they have an Arachnoleptic fit. They twist about, attempting to pull spider silk off their skin and face, and out of their hair in an attempt to be rid of “the creepies”. It makes the more devious and mischievous people want keep web-spinners around as pets to pulls some great Halloween pranks in unsuspecting trick or treaters with. Watch your step out there! Even though the spiders have gone dormant in the North with the arrival of winter, the spiders are still having their fun in the South. And remember, there are 10,000 types of spiders. All 10,000 of them live in the South, plus a couple no one’s seen before.

Arachnidiot (ar ak ni’ di ot) – n. A person, who, having wandered into an “invisible” spider web, begins gyrating and flailing about wildly.

If you live in an insect-heavy area of the world, you most likely have seen these kinds of people around, and they can be quite amusing, but be careful. Even if you have no fear of spiders, the creepy feeling of walking into a spider web is one you never want to experience. The wild dance you might do has no steps or rhythm, and there is only one song you can do it to, which also happens the be the National Tobogganing Song “AAAUUGGHHH!” which will be the main chorus, and the verses go something like a chant of “Get it off! Get it off! Get it off!” or “Dammit! Dammit! Dammit!” Any lyrics are completely ad lib and the song can last as long as the poor person walking into the web can stand. Watch where you walk in the wooded area, or even between the trees in your yard, or even out your front door. To a crafty and hungry spider, you might be a great catch for dinner, or you might be the victim of a practical joke which will amuse the spider greatly.
