Slopweaver (lsahp’ wee vuhr) – n. Someone who has mastered the art of repositioning the food on his plate to give the appearance of having consumed a good portion of it.
Kids have to be the best slopweavers ever. If you see their expressions of “ew, gross!” and “yuck!” and “Is my mom out of her mind to try to make me eat this?”, you just know they are going to try to do their best at slopweaving. Those bits of carrots, broccoli, peas, or whatever vegetable they can’t stand are most definitely not going to remain where they started. Sometimes not only do they do this with vegetables, but with other food items. Fish, any kinds of spicy foods, and even some desserts. Many kids do not like coconut or licorice, so they may attempt to slopweave these as well to please their parents or grandparents whom they are trying to please. At a time when portion control is out of control at restaurants and fast food outlets, it might be wise to cut back on portions of the things kids might not like to get them to eat them. It would be less of a torture for everyone to endure.
