Twingch (twinch) n. The movement a dog makes with its head when it hears a high-pitched noise.
Dogs are so cute when they make a twingch. Their eyes get real big, and their ears perk up, and they tilt their head to the side. You will usually find yourself making this high-pitched noise over and over to make sure the poor dog keeps twingching so his or her head stays that way because they look so cute. Cats have a different version of a twingch. When they hear a high pitched noise, their heads circle around like bird’s, and they come closer to the object making the noise to find out what is causing it. This may end up with the person making the noise either getting a kitty-nose kiss, or a slap in the face, claws open. They might just be ignored, because, hey, that’s what cats do. Even pet birds have a version of a twingch, they tilt their heads like a dog does, and they will either try to imitate the noise, or if it has a rhythm to it, try to dance to it on their perch. No matter which pet you may own, all of them will respond to a twingch. Some ways might be cute, and some ways might not be, but it is funny to see what they might do.
