Noflet (nahf’ lit) n. – The upward swirl of hair found on certain individuals such as Ronald Reagan and Big Boy.
I guess the Noflet is another name for the Pompadour, but it seems a little off, being on the side rather the center of the head. Other notable people who wore noflets were…. I think the 1960s Speed Racer, but he’s the only one I can think of right off. Noflets are very rarely seen on females. I guess women experiment with enough strange hairdos and really don’t want the top of their head to look like a dish of Dairy Queen ice cream. Noflet hairstyles are most definitely a male hair fashion, and it takes lots of Dippity Do or Brylcreem to make a Noflet stay in place, which is why most of the males who do wear them tend to be cartoon characters or company trademarks, or maybe both. I’m not exactly sure how one would go about creating a noflet, as I am no hair stylist, and I am not sure why any barber would want to, except as a practical joke, but I guess if a Noflet is good enough for our late President Reagan, it might be a style worth looking into, but I doubt the Noflet is going to make a comeback as a 21st century pop fashion trend any time soon.
