Overall:★★★★½

Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion Game Of The Year Edition by Bethesda Game Studios and ZeniMax Media is one hell of a game and will keep just about anyone entertained for hours on end. The graphics are almost real life in appearance and the massive free roaming world is just amazing. While most games are short and over almost the moment you start them this one has hours, even months of game play that just cant be beat, except for maybe the next Elder Scrolls game. To make it even more massive and time intensive the Game Of The Year edition has all three games rolled up into one. There is no way you are going to be able to beat this one in just a day like some other RPG type games out there.

Star Trek Nemesis (2002)

This was the last film to have the crew of the series Next Generation and the least received by the fans of Star Trek. While the film did have a lot of action it lacked in the way that the script was put together. It seemed to be written as a continuation of an episode that was never made and there was just too much going on in the plots and subplots to make this film truly great. We have Diana Troy (Marina Sirtis) and Willian Riker (Jonathan Frakes) getting married, Data (Brent Spiner) planed to be the next first officer, Riker getting his own command and Worf (Michael Dorn) complaining about the nude Betazed traditions associated with marriage. Now throw into the mix a coup happening in the Romulan Empire with the new Praetor being very related to Jean-Luc Picard and Data finding a long lost brother. Even if the extra positronic android is directly related to the plot there is still way to much going on for just one film. Lord of the Rings had less plot twists and it was made into 3 movies totaling over 8 hours on the extended versions. Star Trek Nemesis wouldn’t warrant that much screen time but with everything that is there it could have been easily 2 films which would have aloud the plots to unfold a bit more naturally. As the film is the plot seems forced and doesn’t flow well with everything that is happening.

The Snow Queen 2005 BBC

This is a retelling of the tale based on The Snow Queen by Hans Christian Andersen. Many stories and films have used elements from this classic tale for years and will continue to do so for years to come. It is a classic good verses evil tale but instead of the gallant knight coming to the rescue it is instead the damsel in a dress that is going to save the day. When you look at fairy tales as a whole it is usually the men saving the women and not the other way around. This one particular rendition by BBC is trippy and would be best seen when you are not thinking clearly and the world is more full of color for you. If you don’t know what that mean then you need to crawl back under your rock for a few centuries. For those that do know, grab your drink and have a pleasant hour getting confused and entertained.

Star Trek Insurrection

This film was pleasant enough to watch and a nice way to take and kill almost a couple of hours but it really should have been a two or three part episode on TV then placed on the big screen. The film feels like it was scripted for television instead of a theater audience and even had the same kind of pacing that we came to expect from the series Star Trek Next Generation. If they had not canceled the show I am sure that we would have seen this on the TV instead of in the theaters. Its no wonder that this film fell into the possible suck zone of the Trek films. While good to have on a DVD or even a Blu-Ray it was not worth the money it cost to see it on the screen back in the day. Some have said that it was the actors that were the problem with this film, I say it was the script writers that were the problem with this film, it just did not flow smoothly enough for the big screen.

Star Trek First Contact (1996)

Star Trek VIII First Contact was directed by Jonathan Frakes and his directing skills make this film one hell of a ride. It has action, suspense, drama and just the right amount of reflective time to keep you guessing and wanting as you watch the film unfold. This film is a true gem in the Star Trek franchise and I hope that Frakes who also plays William T. Riker comes back to direct even more Star Trek in the future. He inspires the actors to bring all of the returning and new characters to life as you have never seen them. Gone are all the stupid dumb women that played key roles that they should never have had to begin with. All the leading actresses in this film are strong and confident and is reflective of Jonathan’s directing style.
