Be careful when you find a great deal on a DVD at a local discount store, because it might not be worth the $5 you plunked down for it. I took an interest in All’s Faire in Love for two reasons. I used to be in the SCA , and I like Christina Ricci’s work, ever since her days of The Addams Family and Casper. I could have skipped this one. The unrated director’s cut of this film on Blu-Ray is done quite well and can be enjoyed by all that love fantasy films. I will say that I have never played the game Dungeon Siege but this film makes me want to play it and maybe that is the point. The film instills in the viewers a desire to see and experience more of what is seen in the film. Will I be disappointed when I play the game? Maybe, but one will never know till they do play it. Adaptation, when you take many different parts of a whole to make a representation for easier consumption. The film as itself is quite good with fast paced action, drama and plot twists that you would love in other films. Forget that this is based off a video game and see it for what it is, a space drama with enemies, heroes and stumbling blocks. All the things you want for a great film. When looked at in that light this is a wonderfully brilliant film that you will want to see over and over for its content and story. Read more...
