Surviving Mars: One Drone At A Time

Fun Factor:★★★★☆

The game Surviving Mars is one that is both addictive and can be hard as hell at the same time. You would think building a colony on Mars would be easier than what you have to do in this game. Even the easy start part of the game can become quite challenging rather quickly. Making sure you have metals, oxygen, water and more will keep you looking for more. Even with the slow pace of the game you can quickly become overwhelmed with what happens in the game.

Surviving Mars is somewhat unique to other RTS type games that I have played in the past. It has some elements from greats like Civilization and elements from Colonization and others where you are able to get supplies and people from Earth. It blends all of these elements together quite well as you research and build your way to a successful colony on Mars.

John Carter – Lost in Our World. Found in Another.

As a fan of Edgar Rice Burroughs I was happy to see this film come out. While everyone went nuts for Tarzan books I always loved the Sci-Fi stories that Burroughs told so his John Carter series was loved by me. I really do not understand why people hated this film so much, it must be all the looking down the barrel game mentality of today. The film really was done well and to me, stay true to the spirit of the fiction that it was based on, A Princess of Mars by Edgar Rice Burroughs. It is always a pleasure to see a film made that follows its source and tries to pay homage to it. This is what I saw in the film John Carter.

Transformers (2007)

Anyone who loves a good action film is not going to be disappointed by this film from Michael Bay. It has all the elements for a great Sci-Fi action thriller that should please everyone, unfortunately not everyone. Having watched the cartoon since it first aired on TV in 1984 and several of the incarnations since then I personally feel that the film indeed captures the essence of when Hasbro and Marvel first did the shows and comics. While purists hate anything Michael Bay may make this reviewer feels that he did the name of Transformers true justice. The film is about autonomous robots that are seeing something on earth, just as in the old series. While the first movie doesn’t deal with the search for Energon but it does make hints at it with them showing that there are a group of transformers on the surface of Mars. This film deals with the search for the All Spark, the Cube, their maker. The show also has the interactions between the humans and the transformers with the interaction with the teens that ultimately become their spokesmen on earth. With so much coming from the old series there is no way that you can not mistake this as not being a full authentic transformers film.

Incarnations of Immortality – Wielding A Red Sword

The forth book in the Incarnations of Immortality series written by Piers Anthony takes us into the depths of India and the conflict that is going on between Satan and Mars, the Incarnation of War. The current Incarnation has to go and another found to take his place and you know Satan is going to make sure that both happen and that the replacement will be easy for him to control. Satan needs souls and to be able to do as he wishes on Earth so that he can gather as many corrupt souls as possible. The current Mars is not going to just let him do it so to get rid of him Satan has to get rid of war all together. Not a simple task, not even for Satan. He will have to bribe many politicians and grant favors to even the best of humanity to see that it is accomplished. This might look like Satan is doing a favor for humanity but is in fact doing the opposite.
