Krogt (kraht) – n. (chemical symbol: Kr) The metallic silver coating found on fast-food game cards.
Krogt has to be some of the most resilient substance ever created. It only serves one purpose, but why is it that when scratching the krogt off a game piece or a lottery ticket, the only thing that will work is a coin? There are so many different things that could be used to get rid of the shiny stuff, hardware tools, scissors, nail clippers, etc, all sorts of things with a blunt metal edge, but try using anything but a coin and the krogt just won’t budge. Not only is krogt used on game pieces and lottery tickets, but sometimes it is used on catalogs and magazines whenever some mail-order outlet is having a surprise sale. “Scratch off to see how much you’ll save!” Again, get your change out, because anything else is going to destroy the filmy, flimsy print paper, but the krogt is going to stay intact. Not exactly sure what krogt is made of, but you never see used on anything else. Eventually, we might see krogt become obsolete and be replaced by stickers or something less frustrating to work with, but it won’t happen anytime soon. As long as people are addicted to scratch-off games, it won’t be going anywhere.
