John Carpenter’s They Live

They-Live-1988-Movie-PosterThis film is a classic and will always stand the test of time. Heck when watching it today you can see parallels to the current economic situation in America. The film was made at a time when unemployment was high and the rich kept getting richer, seemingly at the expense of the poor. Some of the visuals you see in the film will make you laugh as you see it happening around you right now. It makes you wonder if Carpenter was a profit of what is to come with the way that this film unfolds. For anyone that likes the films from John Carpenter, they are going to love and cherish this one where everything is not what it seems.

Skyline (2010) Don’t Look Up

This entry was posted in Action, DVD, Videos & Movies, Sci-Fi by Cleave on

While it is true that much of the movie is shot in just one penthouse apartment this film still has a lot to offer in both action and effects. The acting was done well and it actually had a good script despite what other reviewers might tell you. They just didn’t like it because the people they wanted to see life just didn’t make it. This is not a film where everything comes out like we want or even expect. This is a film about how people deal with both everyday stresses and how they deal with the pressures of the unknown and possible doom. This is a thinking mans Sci-Fi film with action, hot women and jazzy and spectacular special effects to wow the mind and make you forget you are actually watching a drama.

Volcano with Tommy Lee Jones

This film is truly volcanic and keeps you going right till the end. The characters are believable as is the situation in that Los Angeles does indeed sit on an active fault line that could give at any moment. This is a film that you can watch again and again and be entertained by it ever single time. This is truly one of Tommy Lee Jones’ great films but doesn’t get enough credit or play time. If you are wanting hot action but not of the sexual kind then this film is going to be perfect for you. You even get to see Los Angeles almost burn to the ground and see a building blown up. No cheesy SyFy filmduggery is going on in this film, its raw action and destruction of epic proportions right in your face. It is a race against time to save millions of people and it all depends on just 2 people to see that it gets done and gets done before time runs out.

Battle of Los Angeles A Syfy Original Movies

Visually boring and spectacular NOT! I know Syfy has limited budgets on these movies but this was almost as bad asSyFy Original : Mega Python vs. Gatoroid (2011), almost. I think the budget was way less though. Come on, the interior of spaceships that are made of plastic pallets and scrap aluminum? Get real guys and what is up with the chandelier spaceship. (I wonder if they will sell it as one) It looks like it should be in some disco dance hall instead of “stuck” over the skies of Los Angeles. Gaming companies make things look more real and they don’t get the budgets that you do for that one stupid spaceship shot. Who ever is hiring the interns need to get some real professionals in there to show the learners just how it should be done. We have seen better CG effects in hoax videos that have been Photoshopped!
