Marvel’s The Avengers (2012) Some assembly required

As you can tell from the tagline I added to the title, this film does require some assembly but this can be a good thing. I know some people will hate this film because it just doesn’t come and smack you in the face with action and The Avengers right out the door. The thing is, even though we may have seen all the films leading up to this one, other may have not seen the prequels to understand what is going on. The film has to show us some of what has happened in the past so that it can continue to tell us the story as it goes on. I would still like to know how Thor got to Earth without the Bifrost, the film didn’t really elaborate other then using dark energies mentioned by Loki. In any event, we had to see all the slow stuff to be able to get to and appreciate all the fast and thrilling stuff.

Thor 2011 Courage Is Immortal

Marvel Studios brings us the story of Thor like we have never seen before. They have always been doing all of the other heroes but have done little with the Champion of Asgard till now. We get to see the story behind the hero and not just bits and pieces from some over stylized comic stiff cartoon. We get to see the grandeur of Asgard, the relationship that he has with some of the other Asgardians and how he pissed off his father enough to wind up stuck on Earth or Midgard. We get to see the man behind the god and get to see just how human he can really be.

A funny thing happened on the way to the blog…

I am sure some of you have noticed that for the past week there were mostly posts from Snowfoxx and not me and there is a reason for that. On the 28th of September 2011 I woke up with some pressure on my first molar. I didn’t think much about it as I had popcorn the previous night and took a floss pick and got a kernel out. That alleviated the pressure but not completely but enough to not be a bother. All that day it kept nagging at me till I took a bite of dinner and I heard an awful popping noise and something gritty was in my mouth. The pressure was stronger now and starting to hurt. When I inspected the grit it was in fact a filling that had been forced out of the tooth. It had been there for over 30 years and then just wham pop it was out and air was flowing over a now raw nerve.

Geology vs. God….wait… What?

It’s all over the news, and has been for some time now. The earth’s subduction zones are being a bit more vocal than usual. Maybe Gaia is just stretching a bit. With a 24,901.55 miles waistline, that can be a pretty rough bit of movement, but if we look at maps of the earth from the past, and present, we can sort of predict a future of geological cycles. Geologist Christopher R. Scotese came up with the Paleomap project years ago as an educational aid for science classes. These maps not only give us a look at the earth through early prehistory, from the Late Precambrian period to the Ice Age, but we see our current earth, as well as speculation on what a future earth might look like from 50 million, to 250 million years from now. That’s 4+ billion years of subduction plates shifting around….. wait… What’s that you say? How could there be maps of what the earth might have looked like 650 million years ago when Yahweh created the earth about 10,000 years ago? Oh, I see, Yahweh has a sense of humour and placed all this falsely dated stuff out there to keep humans digging around to prove him wrong. I might expect something like that from Loki, a god whose sphere is mischief, but Yahweh? A very jealous Hebrew war god who hates just about everything humanity does if they do not worship him. A war god who will punish you eternally if you might have a bit of hedonistic fun. He has a sense of humour? Something doesn’t seem right here. Massive earthquake activity a sign of the End Times? Well, let’s look back into Earth’s recent history and see how many times we thought the End Times might be upon us in… say… the last hundred years.
