Sniglet of the Day : January 10

Beelzebug (n.): Satan in the form of a mosquito that gets into your bedroom at 3 in the morning and cannot be cast out.

I’m not sure if this is a little demon or what, but we’ve all run into this bug. Late summer nights when there might be a tear in your window screen or maybe if someone left the front door open too long, this tiny, evil creature waits in hiding until you fall fast asleep, then it springs into action. It’s sole purpose is to deprive you of a good night’s sleep. It is a tiny vampire, and it will get the blood it wants, but it just wants to much more than that. You will wake, run to the kitchen for fly swatters and bug spray, douse your bedroom in the foul-smelling death spray, and try to get back to sleep, but the tiny imp just got drunk and partied on that spray, and is once again buzzing in your ear for hours on end. This delights the mosquito to no end, and you never realise that those buzzing noises are actually an insect’s version of an evil laugh. If you ever encounter this tiny insect demon, I hope it is on a weekend, because it has no mercy. In the light of day, you might be able to kill it, if not, expect it to hang around for another night of its evil hijinx.

Review: Sandra and Woo

This entry was posted in Books & Literature, Online Comics by Snowfoxx on

Fun and sassy is just the beginning of the words you can use to describe the webcomic, Sandra and Woo. The story is about a 12 year old girl and her pet raccoon, but so many other secondary characters come in and out of their lives. Many of these characters should have webcomics of their own, but I’m glad they don’t, because they are so much a part of of Sandra and Woo’s lives. Woo can talk to Sandra and to other animals, which makes life very interesting for Woo’s forest friends. Sandra has a little boyfriend, Cloud, named for the main protagonist of the 90s video game, Final Fantasy VII. Her best friend, Larissa, is the school tart, but has her best friend’s interests at heart, and knows that Cloud is off limits. Sandra’s dad has been raising his sweet girl on his own, and couldn’t be more proud of her. Cloud’s family has a secret life as vigilantes in their city, and his mother is an ex-rebel from Burma, and her kids are very much like her in just about every way. Cloud’s father just stays out of the way of his wife’s nighttime crimefighting. Could any man keep a rebel fighter from doing what she thinks is right?
