So take a day on any one of your favourite beach golf courses, and imagine you have to line your shot up, then you have to answer some random trivia question before you can take the shot. Your question’s difficulty is based on how far you want to hit the ball. The closer you get toi the putting green, the more difficult the questions become, and if you’ve grown up with North American culture, many questions won’t make sense to you, since apparently, whomever came up with them is British. Once you do get to the putting green, you have to do some kind of matching quiz to see how many strokes your short game will take. Read more... I really did not know what to expect when I first started playing Fairway. There were sport commentators, and I was running a Tri-Peaks solitaire-style game, but playing a golf simulation at the same time. The background music and commentators gave a nice feel to the game, reminding me of Happy Gilmore and Caddyshack. It even kept score at each hole, and told you how far under or over par you were. There is prize money to spend at the “pro shop” and even trophies. The only golf I have ever really played is at Pirates Island mini-golf, and variations of such, since I live not too far from Panama City Beach, but combining Tri-Peaks with golf was really a great idea, and the game became very addictive and fun. There was even a timed “fever” level as a challenge. I haven’t picked a driver since 1980, and considering that I live in Florida, that is far too long of a time. I’m not sure if I’m really to hit the real fairways down at Hombre Golf Club, but if the real game is as addictive as Fairway, I just might have to give it a try.

All his life all Happy Gilmore (Adam Sandler) ever wanted to be was a hockey player. He couldn’t skate all that well, not could he steal or control the puck, but he had a slapshot that could kill, possibly literally. He had many jobs when he grew up, in many different kinds of fields, but all they pretty much did was pay the bills. The only thing Happy loves more than hockey is his grandmother (Frances Bay). Happy’s Grandma raised him after his parents split up, but now Happy is on his own, still chasing his dream of become one of the Boston Bruins, but due to his lack of discipline, things are about to change, in a big way.
Happy has been cut from the try-outs for who knows how many times now, and things are looking grim for Grandma, as she has not been able to pay her taxes in a very long time. The IRS is taking everything, and will be auctioning off the lovely house her husband built from the ground up decades ago. Happy’s girlfriend, Terry (Nancy McClure) has dumped him. Things just can’t seem to get much worse. Read more... (842 words, 102 images, estimated 3:22 mins reading time)
