As you can tell from the tagline I added to the title, this film does require some assembly but this can be a good thing. I know some people will hate this film because it just doesn’t come and smack you in the face with action and The Avengers right out the door. The thing is, even though we may have seen all the films leading up to this one, other may have not seen the prequels to understand what is going on. The film has to show us some of what has happened in the past so that it can continue to tell us the story as it goes on. I would still like to know how Thor got to Earth without the Bifrost, the film didn’t really elaborate other then using dark energies mentioned by Loki. This film stars Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark, Don Cheadle as Rhodey and Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper Potts. All were in the first film and are even better in their roles in this one. Samuel Jackson also returns as Nick Fury, the commander of S.H.I.E.L.D, the organization that eventually sets up the Avengers in the Marvel Universe. As a matter of fact this film setup for the next Avenger film Thor. Can’t wait to see that on. Anyway, enough about the back facts and on with the review of Iron Man 2.
In this film Tony, aka Iron Man, is slowly dieing because of blood poisoning from the chest implant that is keeping him alive. We learn that he has tried so many different elements to power it that he thinks he has tried everything. Later on in the film Nick Fury shows up and tells him that there is an answer but it is buried someplace in the stuff left behind by his father. It is the molecular diagram of a molecule that has yet to be discovered. A new element entirely. They never say what the element is, at least I don’t remember a name given to it, but it is just the thing to fix Tony’s problem with power as well as the poison in his blood.
