Maypop (may’ pop) – n. A bald tire
Due to the recent economy, there has been a rise in the number of maypops across the nation, possibly in the world. Thank goodness, in the US, due to the fact that it is tax season, many maypop will be replaced and discarded. Hopefully, these maypops might be recycled and used in road construction like many of the maypops in Europe have been used for. Recycled maypops use on roads means less wear and tear on new tires, and less maypops in the future. I have not seen this happening yet in Florida, though. If you are unlucky enough to be driving on maypops, as many of us are at this time, be aware that this will decrease your gas mileage, so try to get those maypops replaced as soon as possible. With spring coming around the corner, and the demand for gas going up as the snow thaws, and party goers descend on the Big Easy for Mardi Gras for pre-Spring Break, the prices are going to go up even more, so you need to squeeze every penny from every drop of over-priced fossil fuels as you can. Replace your maypops, change your oil regularly, and do your best to stick to the oil companies, because thaty have been sticking it to us since the 1970s.
