The third film in the Star Trek movies stars William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, DeForest Kelley and directed by Leonard Nimoy. This film truly makes a franchise of the Trek films in a way that kept the movies going for years by picking up from the cliffhanger of the previous film. Making the films in this way the fans are happy and willing to keep coming back for more to see what is going to happen to what they feel is their crew, their ship and their show.
Spock and McCoy are lost and is is up to the crew of the enterprise to find them both and bring them back safely. While this sounds easy enough for Kirk and crew things are complicated this time around. In Star Trek II The Wrath Of Khan we saw Spock die a painful death repairing the Enterprise. We all felt that he was gone forever but even viewing original footage you see Spock tell McCoy to remember. At the time we didn’t know what he was doing and really didn’t know till this film. The second of the Star Trek films for the big screen feature the acting talents of William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy and DeForest Kelley as the main stars Kirk, Spock and Bones. The villain of the film is the one villain that most if not all Star Trek fans know is Khan played by Ricardo Montalban. From the original series they could not have picked a better person to be the rival to that of Kirk.
Khan is a byproduct of 20th century genetic engineering and was found by the Enterprise drifting in space in an old sleeper ship that had been launched in the last part of the 1990’s. Yes, at the time they thought we were all going to kill ourselves by then but of course we didn’t, but that is part of the Star Trek universe and can not be un made, so live with it, this is science fiction. In the original series Khan and his crew as well as one member of the Enterprise crew were set down on Ceti Alpha 5 which was later thought to have been destroyed. Read more... In 1979 everyone was talking about Star Trek, the series had been canceled but fans around the world had the space shuttle named Enterprise and they petitioned for new shows and of course for movies. Growing up on reruns of the show that were filmed when I was a child watching on a new brand new expensive 10 in black and white TV, I was thrilled that there were going to be more done with the series. That was the past and this is now, a time when many people just don’t have an appreciation for what gave them the blockbuster hit Star Trek staring Chris Pine.
