This marks the 3rd open beta weekend for Guild Wars 2. This is the last one that they are going to be having before they release the entire game to the public on August 28 of this year. For those that pre-purchased the game, they will get a 3 day head start. It is sure to be one hell of a week when it is released. As to this weekend all characters were wiped and everyone is making new characters. What makes it even more special is that we can now make Sylvari and Asura characters.
Here below is a video of a character being created, a Sylvari Ranger. The video shows all of the steps that you take when you are creating a character. I have added some narration to the video so you know what is going on. You will also hear the games music as well so you know what to expect when you finally create your own character. Just so you know, each option that you choose will change the video that you get to see after character creation. You determine what it is that you are going to see as you choose your characters traits and pick their life choices. So your video might not be like the one that you see here because of that fact. This weekend started the first public beta weekend with no NDA and what a weekend it is starting out to be. So far things look very polished though we are only able to play Norn, Human or Char at least on the world that I chose to play. I can not say what the other ones will or would allow but I am sure that they will be testing everything out thoroughly as the beta events go on.
Starting I took a look at the various races that were open and they are cute as can be on the females and rather hansom for the males. You are able to control all the various aspects of your characters physical appearance. You can control the heights, the weight as well as the various parts of the body. Where you see the most sliders are that of the face. You have three sections for those, you have the eyes, the nose and the mouth and chin. Each giving you various different options so that you can make a character that is uniquely your own. I literally spent 30 minutes just deciding how I wanted my toon to look. Some would want to jump right in but I wanted to see all the options that were available for character creation. Read more...(427 words, 27 images, estimated 1:42 mins reading time)
Champions Online has had a make over and is now free to play and hosted by Perfect World. Originally coded and made by Cryptic we now have the MMO that is free to play and actually quite fun to play as well. From the time that you log in to the time you log out you do have fun with the characters that you make. Even making a character is fun to do and you could spend an hour or more just doing that. The hardest part of the game was waiting for the game to download and then patch itself. For those with very VERY fast download speeds it wont take you long but those with slow DSL will be waiting a while as when I downloaded the game it was 3 and a half gigs and the patch was 256 megs. Even after patching the game still is loading areas and textures in the background which might give you a few hick-ups now and then but nothing that will get your character killed as you play.
