Cabnicreep (kab’ nih kreep) – n. The structural condition in which the closing of one kitchen cabinet causes another to open.
Maybe the airflow in those cabinets is sort of on overload, or maybe the house is just old and the cabinetry is in need of a makeover, but in some homes, you just cannot avoid the cabnicreep. You know how it goes, you close the cabinet you keep the cups in, and the one holding the dishes pops open, or you close up the canned goods only to have your baking supplies and spices pop open. Cabnicreep is, at the very least, a slight annoyance, or it can be an invitation for vermin to find their way into your food supplies. Maybe some latches might stop the cabnicreep, or even some well-placed magnets. The cabnicreep won’t be going away any time soon, so do your best to bear with it until you can get to a home improvement store and see the guys and girls who know how to fix a cabnicreep. It might not be too costly, and will be well worth the trip to prevent bugs and tiny rodents from finding your goodies.
