Sniglet Of The DayTritz (trits) – n. The holes in saltine crackers.

Is there anything more versatile, yet more bland than a simple saltine cracker? Maybe the holes in the saltine, also known as tritz. Maybe they are there to make the saltine easier to break, or as a place for the chili and cheese to ooze through when you dip them. There are so many salty, hot liquids that can ooze through the tritz easily, but chili and cream of tomato soup tend to be the most common ones. Peanut butter slides through tritz easily when made into after school snack sandwiches. Luckily, these days, we are not bound to the bland old saltines our grandparents had. You can find them in all kinds of flavours, like plain, whole wheat, and even cheese. The tritz take on a whole new kind of life with these updates, and you might even find yourself indulging in mini-cheesecakes made of whole wheat saltines topped with cream cheese and strawberry preserves. No matter what you use to fill the tritz, the idea behind them still remains the same. Now, pass the habanero sauce.
