Fun Factor:★★★★★

I haven’t had so much fun with a hidden object mystery in such a long time as I have had with Surface: Mystery of Another World Collector’s Edition. Even though it was a mystery, there was not really a horror element to it, but there was very much a story that needed to be told and uncovered. It definitely had an Olde Worlde feel to it, with the steam train and the nondescript town that we end up in.

While on the train, our role is as mother to a fair-haired boy of about ten. A dark-haired woman enters the train cabin with a boy of about the same age dressed in satin robes, and asks if the kids can play together. The kids seem to like each other, and have no problem with the idea. So, we agree, and the boy’s mother goes off while we babysit the kids. It turns out that the woman was not the boy’s mother, but a sort of nanny, but the kid is some kind of magic-using mystic from another world, and we have a sinister villain out to get him, and our own kid. Oddly, enough, boys look like they could be twins!
