CUBELO (kyew’ beh lo) n. The one cube left by the person too lazy to refill the ice tray.
So, football season is here, and there are going to be many, many icy beverages served over the many weekends from August through to February. No matter if it’s the college games or the NFL, there will be lots of soda pop flowing into glasses, and somehow, as the host or hostess of a game party, you may run into a cubelo. Someone in your household, or maybe even one of your guests, is just a bit too lazy to refill those trays, or just did not bother to tell you about it.
So, do you leave your home to get more ice down at the corner store, or send one of the kids to get it? Do you want to kick yourself for not stopping at the Twice the Ice automatic vendor with its cute penguins on the side while you were shopping for those other snacks? Do really think you can trust your mate to put together another batch of seven-layer dip successfully while you hunt down the party-pooper fiend that left the cubelo behind? Even though it is only game parties where you might find cubelos to begin with, there will soon be all those holiday parties coming up soon. Tag and bag the cubelo culprit before the season gets into full swing, and avoid ever having to find a cubelo again. Once you’ve dealt the the lazybones, you will always find full ice trays in your freezer to chill your Rum & Coke.
