E-bage (ee’ bage) n. – : An addiction to electronic devices.
So many of us have e-bages these days, and it’s hard to believe that such a thing could not have even existed 20 or 30 years ago. We could follow the timeline and streamline of how computers went from holding such a miniscule amount of memory in rooms the size of your local Ford dealership to almost unlimited memory on something as small as the head of a hemming pin in your grandmother’s sewing box. As the times go on, the electronic devices become smaller and more intricate, and hold apps for things we’ll most likely never have any use for. For some reason, though, we just can’t seem get enough of all these goodies that connect us to each other through social media outlets. We just can’t wait to see the newest Youtube sensation, and tend to forget that this was the secret to Justin Beiber’s success. We can instantly hear the next big sensation in the music biz, and forget that all the pop music coming out of the studios these days sounds alike and is really pretty crappy. Or we can play this first person shooter game and aim down the scope of a rifle to take down terrorists, then switch to another game where we aim down the scope of a rifle to take out zombies. E-bage is a harmless addiction, but let’s remember that this is what brought us to learn about the blogs of obnoxious flames like Perez Hilton. These can also be what flames the fires of OWS. Like any addiction, use this vice in moderation, and you should be okay.
