Sniglet Of The DayPrairie-dog (pre-ree-dawg) v. To pop your head up over the wall of your cubicle to see what is going on in other cubicles.

Not having ever worked in a cube farm, I’m not exactly sure how prairie-dogging works, but I suppose it would be worth the few seconds it takes to pop up out of your seat to look around to see what kind of project your neighbor is working on to break from your own bit of tedium. It would be worth it if your neighbor’s cubicle looked like this…

Well, we know that is highly unlikely to happen, no matter how many coconut candies might show up at the office, and this time of year, you know that they do, but it might be worth the prairie-dogging to see if your cube farm-mate might have some delectable chocolates in his or her pseudo-office. Sometimes the prairie-dogging might be worth it to just look out the window, or to escape agents from the Matrix like Neo did twelve years ago. Of course, we won’t be sneaking about and jacking into phone lines in oddball places, but if those working in cube farms prairie-dog too much, there might be documentations to fill out and work just might not get done on time. So, for those of you lucky enough to be working in a cube farm right now, stay focused. Don’t give into the temptation to prairie-dog, or you might get downsized and have the opportunity to join OWS or have the time on your hands to help out an independent candidate get into office in 2012 so you can get your job back.
