Here’s a fun, tasty sandwich we made while experimenting one day that turned out to be pretty amazing!

4 1/4 ground round patties
4 hamburger buns
4 fresh mushrooms, sliced
4 slices Swiss cheese
4 slices American cheese
4 iceberg lettuce leaves
Worcestershire Sauce
1 tbsp butter
4 tsp. Ranch Dressing

Season ground round patties with Worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper. Cook patties till done. Saute mushrooms in butter until soft and hot. Stack on bun heel in this order: American cheese, patty, mushrooms, Swiss cheese, lettuce, and a tsp. of Ranch dressing. Add more or less Ranch dressing according to taste. Top with bun crown.

These burgers are pretty fun and simple to make, and just about everybody will love them, unless they have an aversion to mushrooms, pity the poor souls. You can serve them with any of your favorite diner sides, like fries, or cookout staples, like potatoes salad, coleslaw, or tossed green salad. These will be a big hit at most any summer holiday cookout or barbeque, and we at Musings hope that you give them a try this upcoming Labor Day holiday weekend. They are really satisfying, and somehow, it seems very surprising that no quick-service restaurants have added something like this to their menus yet.
