Blue Tea Games has brought us another great game based on a European folk tale we all know so well, but in Fabled Legends: The Dark Piper Collector’s Edition, that Pied Piper is turning things around and all those rats are back, plagued and possessed!

As the 19th century is coming to a close, the town of Hamelin celebrates its claim to fame with a piper festival, but this year things are a bit different. As the townspeople take to the streets to indulge in sweets, Rhine wine, and frivolities, a masked figure with glowing red eyes makes his appearance, plays a magic flute, and hordes of rats with glowing red eyes appear. Remember when the mayor wouldn’t pay up, and the piper took all the kids away for vengeance? This time he’s back, hundreds of years later, and bringing to Hamelin the one thing they thought they would never have to deal with again. We are playing this hidden object mystery game as a detective, and we are here to investigate this paranormal legend come to life… in reverse!

The 19th century Central European backdrop and eerie night skies are well done, and these rats are most definitely not the excrement with feet as they were described in movie, Daylight, you might find them to be showing up everywhere you go, and they can be a nuisance, but that is why you’ve come. There is a bizarre mystery to solve, and you’ve become famous for using your logic and keeping your wits about you. Musophobics need not apply when it comes to dealing with things in Hamelin, especially when they come back from a 550-year disappearance with the magical music man that took them away. There is some running from scene to scene, looking for items to help you along the way, and the hidden object puzzles are well lit. The artists at Blue Tea really know how to spin a tale, but if you had ever played Dark Parables : The Exiled Prince Collector’s Edition, then you know how thorough they can be. If you have not treated yourself to any of these games from this team in SoCAl, take a chance on them. You’ll be very pleased.
