Doomsday Prophecy shows up on SyFy with Jewel Staite and A J Buckley

The latest SyFy Original film, most SyFy original films are just plain crap, aired on August 13th 2011 and was actually decent. As most know the majority of the SyFy offerings in films have been quite full of coprolite but they haven’t yet turned to stone. They are still warm and smelly yet people keep watching them. They reason they keep watching them is that every now and then you get a gem or in this case a Jewel like Domesday Prophecy. It is a story about the end of the world, a quite popular subject of like because of the Mayan prophecy that the world is going to change, not end, at the end of 2012. It will be the end of the world as we know it but it will still continue to be here, just different. This film gives the prophecy a new twist and spin as 3 very different people try to find out what is going on and how best to take care of it so they can save the world.

Super Eruption a Syfy Original Film

Yellowstone has become unstable and is about to erupt. The only problem is that it already has 640,000 years ago and it is doing it again. Can two park rangers and a scientist stop it in time to save the world? That is what this film is going to show us and it does it with style and class without too many cheesy Syfy stunts. This is not your usual Saturday night Syfy Original Film. This one actually gets it done in a way that makes it look more like a big picture film then the usual half baked creature films that they have been known to show. This one actually entertains you and doesn’t expect you to be a mindless idiot that is drooling with insanity. This film actually respects your intelligence for a change.

Haven on Syfy

Haven is a small little town with big problems even though everyone tries to ignore them. The town has a deep dark secret that they are trying to forget and it is up to the 3 main characters to deal with them and try to figure them out. At the end of last season we saw that Audrey Parker wasn’t even the real Audrey Parker (Emily Rose) but actually someone from the towns past but she has no memory of that time. Now there are 2 Audreys and we all want to know what is going to happen with them. The other 2 main characters are that of Duke Crocker and Nathan Wuornos. Nathan (Lucas Bryant) is a town cop as well as Audrey’s partner is trying to solve all of the towns mysteries. Since his fathers explosive passing he is now pretty mush running the police station and wondering what he is going to do with himself now. Duke (Eric Balfour) is now running a tavern/bar as well as smuggling at times and wondering how it is that he got into the mess to begin with. If it hadn’t been for Audrey he wouldn’t care about what was going on at all. She and Nathan seem to be turning him into a person that actually cares about the town and others.

Red Faction: Origins (SyFy 2011)

This live action movie taken from the heart of a video game is a thrilling action packed film that will keep you fully entertained and ramped up to see just what will happen next. This film first premiered on SyFy and is about 2 factions that are in a tenuous peace with each other with a buffer neutral zone between them. One embraces faith and has little to do with technology while the other are colonists that use technology to terraform the surface of Mars. Both hate each other for their ways of life but they hate is not the real problem but it is a tool that another can use against them. Neither side, the Marauders of the Red Faction can see eye to eye on anything other then the desire to be rid of each other. Their past is so filled with hate and distrust that they can not even see truth from the other side even when it would benefit them. They would rather kill each other on site then to bear to be around them. That is where the film starts and it just gets even deeper from there.

The Hobbit (TV 1977) The Greatest Adventure

This is a wonderful rendition done by Rankin and Bass from the adaptive screenplay written by Romeo Muller based on the original version of The Hobbit. While it doesn’t follow everything that happened in the book it does well to cover the main points of the story. You have to remember this was made for children and for TV so there were many things that they just would not even be able to show. It is truly amazing that The Hobbit was even considered a children’s book as it is both scary and terrifying, especially for small children. I know that I as a child and that of my own son had nightmares after seeing this film. The funny thing is that after seeing it and having the bad dreams children of all ages wind up wanting to see it again. Rankin and Bass did some truly amazing things with animation and all before there was even any computers to work with. Every cell as hand drawn and hand painted to give us this masterpiece of both cinematography and artwork. Anyone who loves the collected works of Jules Bass and Arthur Rankin Jr. will want to have this one in their collection.
