Banished is a builder survival game that keeps you entertained for hours on end in much the way that the original SimCity did when it was first released. The game was developed by newcomer software company Shining Rock Software. The quality of the game is rather excellent give that they entire install package is under 100k. The clarity of the graphics and smoothness of gameplay just draws you in in ways that you wouldn’t think possible. And yet with it deceptively simple game play it can be hard as well. Truly a wonderful and addictive game to play.

This version of the Viking Saga series by Realore Games is the third installment featuring the adventurer turned king, Ingolf, and how he sets about to take on a whole new world when things are looking kind of bleak in Iceland when an epidemic sweeps over the kingdom. This game will take you from the shores of western Iceland to Greenland, and on beyond all the way to the Amazon rainforest, and that is quite a journey. Along the way, you deal with your workers, natural disasters, wild animals, and persnickety druids. So, it seems that the New World is not all that different of an experience than any other in the life of a Viking. Go along, build new settlements, but be wary of things that are going to slow you down in this new wilderness.

The Sims 2 is funny and more entertaining than Call of Duty. I got away from first person shooters for a bit, and started playing this game. In this game, you are making the story about the Sims. Yes, you are a god in this game. The first thing to do in Sims 2 is to make a sim. You can make a family, but I would rather make one sim, instead making a family, or unless you want to cheat in this game. After you make your sim, find him/her a cheap house to live in. You can build a house for them. After that, have fun.

Tropico 5 is the latest version of the Tropico Series that Kalypso Media and Haemimont Games has released and is one hell of a city builder. It was released for download by the Kalypso Launcher on May 23rd with great anticipation from gamers. Even though Tropico 4 and Tropico 3 has some issues gamers looked to 5 to fix those and keep the series alive. In some ways this is true but in others it just isn’t so.

Some gamers, the more vocal ones, are calling this game just a reason for the two companies to sell DLC add-ons for stuff that should already be there. You will notice that the stars that have been given do not reflect some of what I am saying here. The reason is that as a stand alone product is is a very good game. When looking at it with the rest of the series in mind it is lacking in many ways.

Campgrounds: The Endorus Expedition Collector’s Edition

While I did find the first version of Campgrounds to be fun and cute, Campgrounds: The Endorus Expedition Collector’s Edition seems like the same old city builder, even if it does attempt to throw some kind of adventure background into it. Building and upgrading these little campsites while searching for some kind of ancient treasure on some forgotten islands seems to be a bit too much to take on for one person, but we are to help our nerdy redheaded heroine, Addie, run this business while keeping up with some people that have arrived on these islands to take on The Endorus Expedition. I did not find it to be very endearing.
