Celtic Lemonade

Recipes_From_The_Fridge-150x150Summer is very much here, and it is time for backyard barbecues, beach parties, and music festivals, and you are going to get thirsty. You will want to cool off, but you don’t want to lose that buzz, so here is a light spirit that will keep any member of the Seven Nations happy, as well as most anyone else with Celtic blood in their veins.

Here is the recipe for a gallon of the libation:

2 cups sugar
2/3 cup lemon juice (natural strength)
1 1/2 cup Scotch or Irish Whiskey
Water to fill

In your jug or pitcher, add sugar, juice, then Whiskey. Fill with water the rest of the way, shake or stir to mix, and serve at your summer ceilidh chilled.
Your drinking age friends will love this light mix, and with easy enough to find ingredients, you should be able to mix up plenty to stock up for the duration. For those of you in the South, keep this on hand all year long, because the work weeks are long, and it is much more cost effective than bringing in cases of Guiness, or Bass, or any IPA. About the only brew you would not want to substitute if for is Grayton Beach 30A Beach Blonde Lager. Have a great weekend!
