The New Adventures of Pippi Longstocking

The-New-Adventures-of-Pippi-Longstocking-PosterThis version of the the family film series was more enjoyable than the previous movies that were made in the early 70s. This film was shot in the Jacksonville area, so if things don’t look as Swedish as they should, it is because this is an American production. Not such a bad thing, considering the bad dubbing in the earlier movies. We have a brand new crew featuring some B-list actors that we have seen in films made in the 70s and 80s, like Private Benjamin‘s Eileen Brennan and Happy Gilmore’s Dennis Dugan.

So, it starts as we see Pippi (Tami Erin) and her father, Capt. Efraim Longstocking (John Shuck) on their ship, which is suddenly struck by a freak storm, which separates them, and Pippi finds her way home with the help of some crewmates. She sets up in the old family house, which gets the attention of the two curious children living next door, Tommy (David Seaman) and Annika (Cory Crow) Settigren. The kids think the old house next door might be haunted, but once they meet the “ghost”, she turns out to be the most fun and interesting kid they have ever come across. To Mr. Settigren (Dennis Dugan), she’s a bad influence that needs to be supervised. Mrs. Settigren (Dianne Hull) is happy that her kids are happy, and sees the great things that Pippi can do, all things considered.

Rango-DVD-Cover-FrontA fantastic and fanciful tale, written by John Logan and directed by Gore Verbinski, of a once pet lizard that gets abandoned and lost in the desert. It truly is a film to keep on your shelf to see time and time again with all its inside jokes and wild action it is a film for everyone from children to adults. All who see this film, even if they don’t like it which is highly unlikely, will find something to smile about in this film. It is full of cautionary takes and common sense wisdom and presented in a way that makes you realize just what the film is telling you about the society that we and Rango live in.

sailor moon sSailor Moon S is kind of like Kingdom Hearts. Instead of the Heartless in this anime, they are called Death Busters. The Death Busters are stealing pure hearts from people. Raye had a dream that the is coming the end or the world is near. There are three new sailor soldiers in this anime. The five new sailor soldiers are Sailor Uranus, Sailor Neptune, and Sailor Pluto, Sailor Mini Moon, and Sailor Saturn. Sailor Mini Moon is Rini. Rini is now a sailor soldier, but in training. She came back form the future for sailor soldier training. Serena is not too happy about it. She have stick with her for a while. Rini is a little brat. She wants everything done her way. She wants to spent more time with Darien, and he feels so sorry that he got stuck with them when they are fighting. Those two act like sisters, but they don’t act like sisters. They act like the people of Congress.

Wreck-It Ralph – When the arcade closes, the fun begins

Wreck-It-Ralph-Blu-ray-CoverPixar is just amazing, and seems everything they do just keeps getting better and better, and Wreck-It Ralph keeps with the formulae in a huge way. Once you see thing great movie, you will find it hard to believe that all this great action takes place in the span of only two days within the confines of a video arcade. Let’s get a run down of how this all goes about.

Ralph (John C. Reilly) is pretty big guy for an 8-bit character that was created back in the early 80s. He’s been the antagonist of the Fix-It Felix Jr. video game for thirty years, and he’s getting a bit fed up with being the “bad guy”. Just because he as a temper, and was programmed to work the way he does, that does not mean he is evil. He finally meets with the other villains of some of the Litwik Arcade’s games in the Pac-Man ghost house for some group therapy, and he is glad to get the confession that his life is boring and lonely out there. On his way back to his game, he goes through the Central Transfer Station, which is really a huge surge protector that connects all the games in the arcade together, and is stopped by security, which is a common thing for him, and makes it back to his game. When he arrives, the secondary characters of his game are throwing a party in honor of the game’s thirtieth anniversary and Fix-It Felix (Jack McBrayer) is the guest of honor.
