Astonishing X-Men: Gifted

From Joss Whedon and John Cassaday we are served up some compelling story and that is just about it. We don’t get to see a fully animated toon that is going to wow us. Instead we get to see some artist with PhotoShop and AfterEffects cut up a comic book cell by cell and then make it look like it is a full animated toon. Seeing X-Men like this is like watching the stupid idiot cartoons that Cartoon Network shows where it is all cut up images that are moved around to animate them. If this was just to save cost then they just need to pack it in and never do another X-Man cartoon EVER!

As I said, it does have a good story line and we see many of the characters that we love from our youth but I just can not get over the two dimensional quality of the show. Hell you even see where they didn’t cut the images properly so sometimes it just looks like a wooden marionette talking at you. Sure there are people that like this kind of show but I feel that those that do are lacking in imagination and creativity and it is a wonder that they can even turn on their TV or the computer to get to the net.

The voice actors are OK, but just as there is not enough emotion in what they are saying. With animation especially this farce of an animated show needs to have the voices carry what is being shown. There just is not enough emotion to make the characters come alive so that you forget just how poorly the so called film was even made. They even had to come up with a catchy new name for it so they could justify this crap. They call this a motion comic instead of animation or a toon. Here is a deffinition that I have found that spins this tripe:

What is a motion comic? Its a bit of a hybrid genre– the video looks like someone was able to animate the spaces between the panels in a comic book. The conversation bubbles are replaced by voice actors.

I know that anything, any show or cartoon that is ever made like this is going to be something that I will never buy or watch more then just a little bit of. I feel ripped off and dirty for even watching just a small bit of it. No wonder they want to make sure you are of age for if you were not you would know that it was just a piece of junk with glitter on it to dazzle those with not sense at all. Sometimes kids know more then the so called adults do, you can just look at Congress to see how true that is.

By the way, the only reason I gave this series a 2 star is because it was no where near as bad as Piranha 3D was and I gave that a 1 star. I could never see anything X-Men ever being that bad.

I give this film a Musing review of ★★☆☆☆☆
