I really liked the intro to 7 Gates: The Path to Zamolxes. It featured a story about a nation we don’t hear much about in history, the Dacians. These people lived in the region that is now Romania, and they were hardy people that would not give up their lands to the Romans without a fight. In this Match 3 game, we have to search for the missing treasure that the Dacians gave the gods to hide from the Romans. In doing this, we must restore the old temples to gain divine Dacian favour. This is a very pagan-based game, but learning about the Dacians along the way was lots of fun.

The music seemed very similar to me, but then I remembered where I had heard it before. A few years ago, I had stumbled across a competitive casual games site, and played Mahjongg Golden Path. This game featured mahjongg tiles set with Nordic patterns, and this gave it a very Dark Ages kind of theme. 7 Gates: The Path to Zamolxes has this same kind of theme. I’m guessing the developers at DQ Team have used this before and have much success with it. It sure got me fired up. I really hope to see more of their work soon.
